Where Peace Stands and Service Shines: RCOC Honors the Heroes of Ortigas

On November 18, 2025, the Rotary Club of Ortigas Center (RCOC) unveiled its new Peace Pole and People of Action signage at the very heart of the Ortigas Central Business District, prominently located in front of The Podium. This strategic placement in one of the busiest pedestrian intersections in the Ortigas CBD ensures high visibility for Rotary’s message of peace, community service, and collective action.

The ceremony was graced by District 3800 Governor Gina Sanchez, District Service Project Chair Noel Cuico, Zone 6 Public Image Chair Heart Arceo, OCAI General Manager Vicky Santiago, and Architect Raul Venturina, whose presence underscored the significance of this public image milestone.

Yet, the true highlight of the gathering was the recognition of this year’s Ortigas Heroes. Since 2004, RCOC has honored the exceptional personnel of the Ortigas Center Association, Inc. (OCAI) — the often unseen yet indispensable stewards of the Ortigas CBD who work day and night to keep the district safe, clean, and orderly.

This long-standing tradition once again celebrated their dedication through cash gifts, certificates of recognition, and the turnover of new uniform shirts for OCAI’s street sweepers and gardeners.

Reaffirming its commitment to uplifting lives through education, the club also presented a laptop to scholar Krizza Pelonia, a BSIT student from Jose Rizal University, to support her continued academic journey and future career in technology. RCOC extends its heartfelt appreciation to OCAI Director PP Luz Cotoco and the Mandaluyong LGU for their unwavering support in making the Ortigas CBD a welcoming space for Rotary’s public image and community service initiatives.

Standing alongside our partners and everyday heroes, RCOC continues to embody its call to #UniteForGood — strengthening communities, celebrating service, and making peace and progress visible in Ortigas and beyond.
