Rotary Year 2025–2026 began with a shared commitment: to uplift learners and support education at the grassroots level. As its kickoff project, RC Hiyas ng Bacoor launched a heartfelt initiative—the Back-to-School Gift Drive, themed “Hiyas: United for Learning.” It was more than a project; it was a reflection of what happens when service meets community spirit.
On July 1, the club visited Talaba Elementary School, where 100 kindergarten students were welcomed into their new school year with white shirts and classroom chairs donated based on the school’s needs. For many, this was their very first experience stepping into a classroom. Watching their faces light up with quiet wonder and hope as they settled into the seats provided was a powerful reminder that even the simplest things—a clean shirt to wear or a place to sit—can nurture a child’s sense of belonging and build confidence as they begin this important journey.
The momentum continued on July 8 at Bacoor Central Elementary School. This time, the focus was on 100 Grade 3 students who received essential school supplies—items that will carry them through a school year filled with learning, growth, and challenges. The support of Congresswoman Lani Mercado Revilla played a key role in making this phase of the project possible. It was encouraging to see how aligned goals between local leaders and volunteers can bring about meaningful, immediate change in children’s lives.
As students quietly held their school supplies or found their place in class, there was a deeper sense of meaning behind the moment. These items—simple as they were—stood for something more. They carried with them a message: that each child matters, and that their dreams are worth supporting. There was no need for grand speeches. The grateful smiles of teachers and the sense of pride on each child’s face said everything. In these small, quiet moments, the spirit of community, compassion, and commitment came alive.
What started as a donation drive unfolded into something far more impactful—a reminder that lasting change often begins with small, thoughtful gestures. Behind every act of giving was a shared purpose: to nurture potential, to create space for learning, and to ensure that no student feels invisible at the start of the school year. This is more than a project; it’s a reflection of what this new Rotary year stands for—beginning with empathy, acting with sincerity, and building on what matters most: community, dignity, and opportunity.
This is just the beginning. The Rotary Club of Hiyas ng Bacoor – District 3810 remains committed to pursuing initiatives that create meaningful and lasting impact—in education and beyond. Whether addressing community needs, supporting families, or empowering the next generation, the goal is the same: to build a future where opportunity is within reach and no one is left behind.
