Tides of Change Along the Coast: Project BEACH Combines Environmental Action and Community Partnership
On August 9, 2026, the Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union carried out Project BEACH: Coastal Clean-Up, bringing together Rotarians, volunteers, and community partners that includes the Inner Wheel Club of San Fernando La Union (IWCSFLU) and Rotary Community Corps Dalumpinas Oeste Eco-Rangers (RCC DOERS) in a shared effort to protect the coastal environment. Participants collected waste materials along the shoreline and promoted awareness on responsible waste management and environmental stewardship.
The activity went beyond a one-day clean-up drive. It served as a reminder that healthy coastlines are essential to public health, tourism, fisheries, and the overall well-being of coastal communities.
A significant highlight of the project was the turnover of the headquarters and signage to RCC DOERS, symbolizing strengthened community ownership and partnership. The turnover recognized the important role of community volunteers in sustaining local initiatives and maintaining shared spaces.
Project BEACH demonstrated that environmental service is most effective when communities work together, and it reaffirmed the club’s commitment to protecting natural resources for future generations.
