Spreading Christmas Joy: RC Makati Dasmariñas Celebrates Love and Hope at Kanlungan sa Pasig

The Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas, alongside its Rotaract members, brought the true spirit of Christmas to life at Kanlungan sa Pasig, a care facility for children in conflict with the law (CICL) and children at risk (CAR), December 7.

With a theme centered on love, hope, and laughter, the celebration offered more than just gifts and festivities—it became a beacon of community and compassion for approximately 80 children.

Led by Peace Director Adrian Cayabyab and supported by 20 Rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of Arellano University and Rotaract Club of Changebringers, the event united young hearts and minds to create a day filled with joy and inspiration.

A Day of Celebration and Unity

The Christmas party featured singing, dancing, games, and heartfelt exchanges, leaving a lasting impression on both the children and the volunteers. For the participants, the event wasn’t just an ordinary party; it was a testament to the power of kindness and shared humanity.

Faith Villanda described the event as wrapping the children in a “warm and comforting blanket of love and community spirit,” while Lourenz Ablaneda envisioned it as offering second chances to children who deserved brighter futures.

“Their smiles and laughter made every moment magical,” said Hjera Sidocon, who shared how a spontaneous group dance turned the celebration into an unforgettable moment of unity.

A Celebration of Resilience and Gratitude

The highlight of the event was the children’s gratitude and resilience, reflected in their prayers and performances. Kyle Tabuno shared a touching moment when a child led a prayer, thanking the volunteers and organizers for their kindness.

“It wasn’t just a party—it was a celebration of hope and gratitude,” Tabuno said.

Loren Rabelle Alcantara was deeply moved by the children’s selflessness. “Despite their challenges, they prayed for our happiness, showing a level of compassion that left me humbled,” she shared.

True Essence of Christmas

The celebration emphasized the deeper meaning of Christmas—extending love and hope to those in need. For Sayee Gulay, who participated for the first time, the children’s boundless joy during games was unforgettable. “Even without winning prizes, their happiness was priceless,” she remarked.

Participants suggested themes like “Gift of Hope” and “Pasko ng Pag-asa” (Christmas of Hope) to describe the celebration, highlighting the event’s profound impact on fostering belonging and optimism.

Acknowledgments and Gratitude

The event would not have been possible without the leadership of the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas, the dedication of Peace Director Adrian Cayabyab, and the tireless efforts of Rotaract youth members. The presence of RCMD President Joann Cañete further inspired everyone with her support and encouragement.

A Renewed Commitment to Serve

As the celebration drew to a close, the volunteers left Kanlungan sa Pasig with renewed purpose, inspired by the children’s smiles and the connections formed during the day. The event underscored the power of collective efforts to uplift lives, especially during the holiday season.

Through this heartwarming Christmas party, the Rotary Club of Makati Dasmariñas and its Rotaract members demonstrated that acts of kindness, no matter how small, can bring light to even the most challenging circumstances.

This celebration stands as a reminder that the true essence of Christmas lies in compassion, unity, and the unwavering hope for a brighter tomorrow.
