Space for Dignity: Rotary Club of Dadiangas Champions Inclusivity at Datal Salvan High School

In a world where dignity and safety should be a right—not a privilege—one Rotary club has taken another meaningful step to turn that vision into a reality.

On a day marked by purpose and compassion, the Rotary Club of Dadiangas proudly turned over two newly constructed gender-neutral comfort rooms to Datal Salvan High School—a project that goes beyond bricks and mortar, reaching deep into the heart of inclusivity and human dignity.

This initiative, spearheaded by Past President Myra J. Atendido, is more than a construction project; it’s a message of understanding and acceptance. By providing gender-neutral facilities, the Rotary Club of Dadiangas is creating a safer, more respectful space for every student—regardless of gender identity—affirming the values of equality, accessibility, and inclusion that Rotary has long stood for.

But the day didn’t end there.

Thanks to the generosity of GKIMPCO, essential first aid kits were also donated to the school, equipping both faculty and students with the tools to respond to medical needs swiftly and safely. These contributions are more than supplies—they’re investments in the health, confidence, and well-being of young minds.

The ceremony was graced by some of Rotary's most devoted members, including Irresistible President Melanie Salangsang, Past Presidents Myra Atendido and Rosalie Garcia, and Rotarians Edgar Garcia, Verna Joy De Guzman, Joebeth Tuballa, Prescy Fernandez, and Jenrix Fernandez. Their presence and solidarity brought warmth and inspiration to the day, reminding everyone that the Magic of Rotary lies not only in its projects but in the people who carry them out—with humility, purpose, and love.

As parents, teachers, and students came forward to express their heartfelt gratitude, it became clear: this project is not just about infrastructure—it’s about impact. It’s about showing young people that they are seen, valued, and protected.

The gender-neutral comfort rooms now stand as physical symbols of respect, while the first aid kits serve as tools of care. Together, they reflect Rotary’s enduring mission: to uplift lives, empower futures, and serve with boundless compassion.

Indeed, in places where comfort was once scarce and dignity uncertain, Rotary has built more than restrooms—it has built hope.
