In the rugged, mist-shrouded peaks of the Cordilleras, distance and terrain are the greatest enemies of progress. For a child with a medical emergency in Buguias or a student in the remote corners of Tuba, help can often feel a world away. However, the clubs of Rotary International District 3790 Cluster 1c are proving that no mountain is too high and no community is too isolated when met with collective action.
The Gift of Vitality: Life-Saving Care and Essential Nutrition
For the most vulnerable, Cluster 1c provides a literal lifeline. The Rotary Club of Baguio South, in partnership with the Shunt for Life Foundation, continues its heroic "Shunt-for-Life" initiative, providing life-saving surgeries for children with hydrocephalus. This specialized care is mirrored by the Rotary Club of Baguio North’s "Limitless Project: Thriving Together," which trailblazed a support system for families of children with special needs, offering sensory care training for parents while children engage in therapeutic play.
Addressing the most fundamental of human needs, the Rotary Club of Metro Baguio has led the charge against food insecurity. Since Rotary Year 2021–2002, their "Rice Against Hunger" project has expanded from a single barangay to three different communities. By delivering consistent nourishment and hope, they ensure that families can face hardship with dignity while strengthening the ties that bind the community together.

Serving as the cluster’s vital medical arm, the Rotaract Club of Baguio Angels supports these missions through their BMW (Basic Medicine on Wheels) program, providing free medicines for community outreaches. This is bolstered by the Rotary Club of Baguio’s efforts in "Saving Mothers and Children" and the Rotaract Club of Baguio Angels' "Share A Meal" program, which provides consistent nutritional monitoring for children in local barangays.
A Legacy of Learning: From Classroom to Career
Empowerment in Cluster 1c is a decades-long commitment. The Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital continues its "Iskolar ni Caloy" program, which has been nurturing future educators since Rotary Year 2002–2003. This deep investment is echoed by the Rotary Club of Baguio, which recently celebrated its scholars returning as newly licensed professionals.
While the Rotary Club of Creative City Baguio brings modern tools like Practical AI instruction to schools in Tuba, the Rotaract Club of Baguio Angels and the Rotary Club of Baguio focus on workforce readiness. Through Barista and Management Seminars and vocational training in welding and electrical skills, they are turning potential into professional dignity.
Innovation and the Path to Sustainability
Protecting the environment in the Cordilleras requires both grit and innovation. The Rotary Club of Baguio North is leading the way with a pioneering circular economy model at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Baguio, utilizing Black Soldier Flies for bio-waste management—a sustainable solution that benefits both the environment and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
This innovative spirit is matched by the physical dedication of the Rotary Club of Baguio Highlands, whose members completed a grueling two-hour trek to Barangay Dalican for a Global Grant site visit to secure sustainable water for 200 families. Meanwhile, the Rotary Club of Creative City Baguio continues to bridge distances with its "Wheels of Life" ambulance program, and the Rotary Club of Baguio Summer Capital fuels these regional environmental projects through the prestigious O Cup Invitational Golf Tournament.

Clinical Excellence in the "Last Mile"
Finally, the future of healthcare is secured by the medical students of the Rotaract Club of Saint Louis University – School of Medicine (SLU-SOM). Through their "Adyo" (To Climb) series, they navigate high-altitude terrains to bring medical and dental outreach to communities where modern medicine is a rare visitor, ensuring that even in the highest peaks, help is always on the way.
One Heart, One Cluster, United for Good
From the operating table to the graduation stage, and from the mountain trails to the rainwater tanks, the clubs of Cluster 1C are bound by the spirit of aduyon and kamalanyugan: the refusal to leave any neighbor behind.
In District 3790, service is not just a report of accomplishments—it is a renewal of purpose, proving that Cluster 1C is truly one in mission and united in doing good for the community. Matago-tago tako!
