The Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union welcomed Mr. Rolly "RB" Bañez, a distinguished cybersecurity practitioner, as the guest speaker during its 2nd Regular Meeting held on July 21. With nearly two decades of experience in cybersecurity, information security, privacy, risk management, and technology governance, Mr. Bañez shared valuable insights on one of the most pressing concerns in today's digital landscape—the growing importance of cybersecurity.
In his presentation, Mr. Bañez emphasized that cybersecurity is no longer solely an information technology concern but a shared responsibility among individuals, organizations, and communities. He highlighted the increasing sophistication of cyber threats and stressed the need for stronger digital awareness, sound security practices, and a culture of vigilance in protecting personal and organizational information.
The engaging discussion encouraged Rotarians to reflect on their own digital habits and the role they play in safeguarding sensitive data. Through practical examples and real-world experiences, Mr. Bañez demonstrated how cyber resilience begins with informed decision-making, continuous learning, and responsible use of technology.
Club members expressed their appreciation for the timely and highly relevant presentation, recognizing its value not only in their professional endeavors but also in their personal lives. As technology continues to shape modern society, the knowledge shared during the meeting equips Rotarians to become more responsible digital citizens and advocates of cybersecurity awareness within their respective communities.
The Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union remains committed to providing meaningful learning opportunities that empower its members to lead with competence, integrity, and innovation while creating lasting impact in an increasingly connected world.
