In a warm display of perseverance, purpose, and promise, the Rotary Club of New Manila East (RCNME) proudly recognized the outstanding academic achievements of its RUDY Women Scholars during the club’s Turnover and Recognition Night held on June 10, 2025, at Club Filipino. Two of the scholars were conferred the distinction of Cum Laude, and all were celebrated for graduating with honors, a fitting culmination to their academic journey and a powerful affirmation of the club’s belief in service through education.
The honored scholars; Angel Heart Aguinaldo, Aya Brea S. Isidro, and Trisha Jane Evangelista, are set to graduate with academic honors, with two among them receiving the distinction of Cum Laude. This recognition marks a significant milestone in their academic journeys and affirms the club’s belief in the transformative power of education and service.
Each honoree received The Magis of Rotary Academic Excellence Award, a unique distinction bestowed upon scholars who not only excel academically but also embody the deeper spirit of Rotary “Magis,” a Latin word meaning “more” or “greater,” signifying the pursuit of excellence and purposeful action. As the citation reads: “You have not only fulfilled a dream, you have embodied The Magis of Rotary by striving for excellence, rising through discipline, and showing that service and scholarship can walk hand in hand.”
The celebration also served to spotlight the RUDY Scholarship Program (Relief for Underprivileged but Deserving Young Women), launched in partnership with the Nisce family and the System Technology Institute in Bonifacio Global City. Officially inaugurated last July 6, 2024, under the leadership of Scholarship Chairman Dir. Dave Buenviaje, alongside committee members Dir. Jian Anisco and Dir. Jan Cabugawan, the program is a living tribute to the late Past District Governor Rodolfo “Rudy” Nisce, a distinguished servant-leader and the 4th District Governor of what was then District 380 during Rotary Year 1966–1967.
PDG Nisce’s legacy of empowering others through education lives on through this initiative. Initially part of District 380, the Rotary Club of New Manila East was chartered in 1984 and later became part of District 3780 when Quezon City was designated as a standalone district in 1987. The RUDY Scholarship honors this rich history while looking forward with purpose, offering full academic year support to fourth-year college students and placing a special emphasis on empowering women scholars.
Through this program, RCNME underscores a bold conviction: that investing in young women’s education catalyzes change not just in individual lives, but across families, communities, and entire systems. By addressing gender disparities and nurturing leadership potential, the club continues to build on PDG Nisce’s enduring example of Rotary service that uplifts, transforms, and inspires.
As Club President Karlo Benjamin Nisce remarked during the awarding, “We celebrate your triumph and look forward to the good you will continue to do for others.”
Indeed, the RUDY Scholars’ journey may have begun with a scholarship, but their impact is only just the beginning.
