Rotary Club of Zamboanga City provides free legal aid to 100 residents

The Rotary Club of Zamboanga City (RCZC) successfully provided free legal aid to 100 residents through Project ALAC (Awareness and Legal Aid Caravan) on November 23.

The event, led by President Jay Santuyo, featured free legal consultations, an advocacy session on Strategic Intelligence for Peacebuilding, and orientations on legal rights under the Barangay Justice system, the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Act, and the Safe Spaces Act.

Participants were highly engaged and responded positively, with Kagawad Teresita Tabi expressing gratitude on behalf of the Barangay.

The Strategic Intelligence session was conducted by SSG Reiza Kinang Jr. and Sgt. Jimhar Ian Abdulgani of the Philippine Air Force, while Atty. Ronifelle Barrios, Founding President of Project ALAC, led the Barangay Justice/VAWC session.

Rotary District 3850 Chair for Peace and Conflict, and Rotary-IEP Peace Ambassador Alumna 2021, PP Megs Lunn, represented D3850 Governor Voting Centino. Lunn discussed the 8 Pillars of Positive Peace and the Seven Areas of Focus of Rotary before closing the program.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed to reinforce Rotary’s commitment to Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution.

The RCZC extended thanks to RLB & Associates, the Philippine Air Force, and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, in collaboration with Brgy. Calarian Councils, Rotary, and Interact of Zamboanga City.

This initiative underscores RCZC’s dedication to serving the community and promoting peace and justice.
