Rotary Club of Cebu Port Centre Turns Over Rehabilitated School Building at Banawa Elementary School

The Rotary Club of Cebu Port Centre celebrated a significant milestone with the successful turnover of the rehabilitated Grade III Building at Banawa Elementary School under the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela Plus and Adopt-A-School Program for School Year 2026–2027. The project provided much-needed repairs and restoration to the school facility, creating a safer, more comfortable, and conducive learning environment for students and teachers alike.

The initiative was spearheaded by Club President Francis Walter Ong, together with DGND and DRFC Chair Jensen Racho, Assistant Governor Nestor Toledo, Director Robert Barquilla, and Mr. Dean Torres. Funded through the District Disaster Fund of The Rotary Foundation, the project reflects Rotary’s continuing commitment to rebuilding communities, improving educational opportunities, and supporting the development of future generations through meaningful service.

Guided by the leadership of DGND and DRFC Chair Jensen Racho and RI District 3860 Governor Angel “Jong” Fernandez, the project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration and community service. More than the rehabilitation of a school building, the initiative represents an investment in hope, learning, and the future of Banawa Elementary School’s students. Through projects such as this, Rotary continues to demonstrate that lasting change is possible when people unite to serve their communities.
