Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris Shines at Les Classiques: A Timeless Celebration of Unity and Service

On the evening of March 22, 2025, The Events Space in Mabolo, Cebu City, was

transformed into a sophisticated French-inspired haven as Rotary District 3860 hosted

Les Classiques for the highly anticipated Area 1 Governor’s Night. The theme, which

translates to "The Classics" evoked a sense of timeless elegance, with a light, breezy summer vibe that set the tone for an unforgettable evening. The event, with its white

semi-formal dress code, was attended by Rotarians from all the clubs under Area 1,

uniting them in celebration, service, and fellowship.

Les Classiques was not just a social gathering; it was a meaningful celebration of the

impact of Rotary and the unity that binds its members. The event brought together

Rotarians from across Area 1 to share in the values of service, leadership, and

community. The French-inspired theme added a sense of elegance and grace,

reflecting the timeless values of Rotary that are at the heart of every Rotarian's

service journey.

The Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris was proudly represented by President Myra

Urbiztondo, Secretary Roxene Rosario, Incoming District Rotaract Chair and Past

President Catherine Englis, and our newest member, Bernadette Ponce. Each one,

dressed in elegant white semi-formal attire, embodied the grace, commitment, and

dedication that define our club. Their presence was a testament to the club's

unwavering commitment to fostering fellowship, empowering leaders, and serving the

community with heart.

The evening unfolded with Rotarians exchanging stories, ideas, and experiences, all

while basking in the warmth of fellowship. The sophisticated ambiance of Les

Classiques, with its breezy atmosphere and French-inspired décor, was the

perfect backdrop for discussions on how Rotary’s work continues to touch lives

around the world. From empowering the next generation of leaders to creating lasting

change in communities, the event was a reminder of how powerful collective action can

be in making a real difference.

As part of the Area 1 Governor’s Night, the event also highlighted the collaboration

between the clubs under Area 1. The gathering served as an important opportunity for

these clubs to strengthen their bonds, exchange ideas, and enhance their collective

impact.

The magic of the night was not just in the elegance of the event but in the spirit of unity and shared purpose that every Rotarian brought to the table.

For President Myra Urbiztondo, Secretary Roxene Rosario, Incoming District Rotaract

Chair Catherine Englis, and Bernadette Ponce, Les Classiques was a vivid reminder of

what it means to be part of a larger movement. It was an evening that not only

celebrated French elegance but also Rotary’s timeless commitment to service. Their

participation exemplified the values of fellowship and leadership that the Rotary Club of

Cebu Gloria Maris proudly stands for.

The Area 1 Governor’s Night and Les Classiques event provided a shining example of

the power of collaboration and the lasting impact of Rotary’s work. As Rotarians, they

left the night not just with a renewed sense of purpose but with the shared knowledge

that their commitment to service is part of something much larger—a global movement

that continues to unite people from all walks of life to create a better tomorrow.

In a world that constantly evolves, the core values of Rotary remain steadfast, guiding

its members to serve with compassion, lead with integrity, and make a meaningful

difference in the world. Unite for Good—this is the essence of Rotary, and it was

beautifully captured on the evening of Les Classiques.
