Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris Conducts Strategic Planning for the Upcoming Rotary Year 2025-2026

On a bright Saturday, May 17, 2025, the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris gathered in the warm and welcoming home of Past President Bessie Villamor in Greenhills Subdivision, Mandaue City, for a pivotal moment in the club’s history—the Strategic Planning session for the Rotary year 2025-2026. This event marked the beginning of a new chapter under the leadership of incoming President Engr. Roxene Roscios Rosario, setting the tone for a year of purposeful service, growth, and fellowship.




The day began with a spirit of camaraderie as members and guests shared a hearty lunch, reconnecting and strengthening the bonds that make Rotary a family. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and determination, reflecting the club’s unwavering commitment to its motto, Service Above Self.


Guiding the session were Past Presidents Jodelyn May Seno and Marietta Socorro Briones, whose experience and wisdom helped navigate the club’s goals and challenges. Their leadership ensured that the planning was both strategic and inclusive, inviting valuable input from all attendees.


The gathering was graced by a distinguished group of Rotarians whose presence underscored the importance of this event. Among them were President Myra Urbiztondo and her husband, Rotarian Alden Urbiztondo, whose steadfast support has been a pillar of strength for the club. Also present was Past District Governor Lilu Aliño, whose insights into district goals, public image and Rotary Foundation initiatives provided valuable context for the club’s planning.


Adding to the richness of the discussion was Past President and incoming District Rotaract Chair Mary Catherine Englis, whose leadership promise a vibrant future for Rotary youth programs. The club was honored to have Past President and charter member Dr. Vivian Dyhongpo, whose pioneering spirit and decades of service continue to inspire all members.


Other Past Presidents who contributed their knowledge and experience included Christine Racaza, Baybee Raffiñan, Mita Caballes, and Herica Climaco. Their collective wisdom helped shape a comprehensive plan that balances tradition with innovation.


The session also included President Nominee and Director of Public Image Dorothy Borces, Director of Membership Evelyn Mercader, and dedicated Rotarians Hazael Urbiztondo, Torifel Gumapac, Mariz Rafols and guest Bernadette Ponce joined the group, bringing fresh perspectives.


Central to the planning was a thoughtful review of the membership engagement and satisfaction survey results. This data-driven approach allowed the club to identify strengths to build upon and areas for improvement, ensuring that every member’s voice is heard and valued.


The discussion extended to upcoming projects that promise to deepen the club’s impact on the community, aligning with district goals and Rotary Foundation priorities. Topics such as club dues and Rotary TRF initiatives were also addressed, reflecting a holistic approach to sustainability and service.


This Strategic Planning session was more than a meeting—it was a unifying moment that brought together past, present, and future leaders of the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris. It reaffirmed the club’s dedication to fostering fellowship, enhancing membership experience, and delivering meaningful service projects.

As the club prepares to embark on the 2025-2026 Rotary year, the energy and commitment displayed during this session signal a promising future. With a clear vision, strong leadership, and a united membership, the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris stands ready to continue its legacy of courage, compassion, and community impact.
