The Rotary Club of Aseana Manila, in partnership with Mga Anak ni Inang Daigdig led by Father Benigno Beltran, formally launched a nationwide tree planting and livelihood initiative on September 28 at Smokey Mountain, Manila.
The project combines environmental restoration with community development, focusing on tree planting and sustainable livelihood programs that will also help fund educational scholarships for underprivileged children up to the collegiate level. The launch at Smokey Mountain serves as a powerful symbol of transformation—turning a site long associated with hardship into one of hope and renewal.
The program was made more meaningful with the support of partner Rotary Clubs. The Rotary Club of Bagumbayan, headed by UCP Allen Rios, brought joy to the children through shared Jollibee meals, while the Rotary Club of Manila Villamor, under UCP Christina Aliada, provided vital assistance and coordination, working tirelessly through the early hours to ensure the event’s success.
Behind the scenes, the efforts of dedicated partners and mentors—including Butch Madarang, Joselito Pamilar, Gary Beltran, Rommel Cruz, Angelo M. Vargas, and John Gindap—were instrumental in bringing the project to fruition.
“Planting hope. Growing futures. For the children. For the planet,” the initiative reflects Rotary’s enduring commitment to both environmental stewardship and uplifting communities through education and livelihood.
