The Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union (RCSFLU) continues to live up to its motto of Service Above Self through its newest initiative, “Rhymes of Hope.” The project was launched with the donation of musical instruments to the DSWD Regional Rehabilitation Center for the Youth, aiming to use music as a pathway toward healing, creativity, and empowerment.
Beyond a simple act of giving, Rhymes of Hope serves as a bridge between rehabilitation and self-expression. By integrating music into the lives of the young residents, the initiative provides them with an outlet to channel their emotions, develop discipline, and rediscover confidence through the rhythm of art and melody.
The project seeks to ignite the talents and passion of the youth who are eager to explore music and the arts. Through these instruments, RCSFLU hopes to create a space where empowerment and inclusion flourish—reminding each participant that they are capable, valued, and never forgotten.
Adding depth and inspiration to the project, Rotarian Jude Flores, musician and founder of Akapelyu, will lead a two-month musical training program designed to nurture the students’ skills and creativity while instilling teamwork, focus, and perseverance.
To make the event even more engaging, RCSFLU members also joined the students in a fun and energetic 3-on-3 basketball game, promoting camaraderie and connection beyond the classroom and the stage.
Through Rhymes of Hope, RCSFLU reaffirms that service goes beyond material aid—it’s about creating moments that heal, empower, and uplift. With every beat and note, the project brings renewed hope and harmony to the hearts of the youth.
