RCC Abut Celebrates Continued Harvest Success of Lettuce Hydroponics Farm

The RCC Abut Hydroponics Farm marked another milestone with its 2nd and 3rd lettuce harvests held on March 24 and April 2, 2026, respectively. These harvests reflect the steady progress of the hydroponics initiative as a sustainable livelihood project for the community. What began as a simple effort has now grown into a consistent source of fresh produce and hands-on learning for RCC members.

Beyond production, the project stands as a model of innovation and self-sufficiency. Members have actively engaged in learning modern farming techniques, ensuring that the initiative remains both productive and educational. The success of consecutive harvests demonstrates the dedication and teamwork of everyone involved in nurturing and maintaining the farm.

Notably, the farm’s high-quality hydroponically grown lettuce has begun reaching the local market, with well-known establishments such as MASA Bakehouse and CURO at Curbside Villa among those supplied. This partnership not only affirms the quality of the produce but also strengthens the link between community-based agriculture and the local food industry.

The initiative also highlights the commitment of the Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union (RCSFLU) in empowering communities through practical and sustainable programs. By supporting projects like this, the club continues to promote food security and economic opportunities at the grassroots level.

As the hydroponics farm continues to thrive, it opens more opportunities for expansion and replication in other communities. With sustained support and active participation, the RCC Abut Hydroponics Farm is poised to become a long-term model of community-based sustainability and service.
