The Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union (RCSFLU) came together in solemn unity on August 31 and September 1, 2025, to honor the memory of Past President Silver, a pillar of the club whose life embodied Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self.
On August 31, club officers and members visited the wake to personally extend their condolences to the bereaved family. During the visit, RCSFLU formally handed over the Board Resolution recognizing PP Silver’s invaluable service as a leader, mentor, and dedicated Rotarian. The resolution was more than a document—it was a heartfelt testament to his commitment to both Rotary and the wider community.
The following evening, September 1, RCSFLU members once again gathered for the last night of vigil, joining relatives, friends, and fellow Rotarians in prayer and remembrance. In quiet reflection and shared stories, members recalled PP Silver’s generosity, his leadership, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met.
PP Silver served as President of RCSFLU from May 19, 1982 to June 30, 1982, during which he continued the flagship project of his predecessor—the Outstanding Policemen and Teacher Awards—a program that recognized and celebrated local heroes in education and law enforcement. His brief but impactful leadership ensured the continuity of meaningful projects that highlighted Rotary’s role in uplifting both public service and education.
Beyond his presidency, PP Silver remained a steady force in the club. For several years, he served as publisher of the Amianan Tribune, where he was instrumental in shaping and maintaining the public image of the club. His work in media amplified Rotary’s voice in the community, ensuring that the club’s projects and advocacies reached a wider audience.
