The Rotary Club of San Fernando La Union (RCSFLU) successfully held its 28th Regular Meeting on April 14, 2026 at the Clubhouse, Thunderbird Resort, highlighting its continued commitment to member development through relevant and meaningful learning sessions. The meeting gathered Rotarians in an atmosphere of fellowship and professional growth, anchored on the importance of health awareness.
The highlight of the meeting was an engaging and informative lecture delivered by Dr. Anna Regina C. Feraren, Medical Specialist II and Head of the Pulmonology Section of the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC). She is also a Visiting Consultant at Lorma Medical Center and the Lung Center of the Philippines, bringing with her extensive expertise in pulmonary and sleep-related conditions.
Dr. Feraren’s talk focused on sleep apnea, a serious yet often underdiagnosed condition that affects breathing during sleep. She discussed its common symptoms such as loud snoring, daytime fatigue, and interrupted breathing, as well as its potential complications, including cardiovascular issues and reduced quality of life. Her presentation emphasized the importance of early detection and proper medical intervention.
Rotarians gained valuable insights on preventive measures and management strategies, including lifestyle modifications and the need for medical consultation when symptoms are present. The discussion not only increased awareness but also encouraged members to prioritize their health and well-being, recognizing its impact on productivity and overall quality of life.
