RC Metro San Fernando celebrates the National Crime Prevention week with National Police Commission

This year’s National Crime Prevention Week, which ran from September 1-7, 2025, was eagerly participated by Rotary Club of Metro San Fernando La Union (RCMSFLU). 

Spearheaded by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Regional Office 1, a Kick-OFF Ceremony was held on September 1, 2025 at People’s Park, San Fernando City, La Union. 

With the theme, “Pinalakas na Pamahalaang local para sa ligtas na Pamayanan: Pagpapatibay ng mga Programa sa Pag-iwas sa Krimen sa Ilalim ng Community and Service-Oriented Policing (CSOP) System,” the event includes a fun run, awarding ceremony, commitment pledge signing, and the synchronous blowing of whistle. This activity aimed to raise awareness about crime prevention and encouraged participants to remain vigilant againt criminality. 

Peacebuilding and conflict prevention are part of the Seven Areas of Focus of Rotary International, a reason why our Club is committed to participate in this annual event since 2019. 

On September 7, 2025, an outreach program for the indigenous people community of Barangay San Francisco Norte, Sudipen, La Union was held as part of the week-long celebrations. Our Club together with the Regional Inter-Agency Technical Working Group (RIATWG) and a riders’ group based in Ilocos Norte handed grocery items to 200 families, who were mostly adversely affected by Typhoon Emong.

Out of these families, 50 children received school bags filled with school supplies and dental kits. In return, the indigenous people community showcased their talents as they welcomed guests to their midst. 

On September 9, 2025, a culminating activity was held at the DILG Region 1 Office. On this occasion, accomplishments were celebrated and every agency and organization who took part in the celebration were recognized for their contributions. As part of the RIATWG, our club received a Certificate of Appreciation for its participation during the week-long celebrations.

Peace will be achieved if everyone will work together. Let us Unite for Good.
