RC Metro Kalibo Champions WASH Initiatives: Outreach, Hygiene Promotion, and Sanitation Support in Aklan

In response to WASH initiatives, Rotarian Ace led an outreach event on March 9, 2025, with the Rotaract Club and NIS Interact Club of Metro Kalibo at Barangay Marianos, Numancia, Aklan. Along with volunteers from the Philippine Red Cross and PAMET Aklan, they conducted a free blood typing and handwashing demonstration, after which children received take-home handwashing soap from our WASH strategic partner, Soap Cycling Philippines. Additionally, they hosted a Reading Program and donated books to the Marianos Day Care Center. 

Also, in a separate event, the club donated 10 toilet bowls to remote households in Aklan, supported by peacebuilding partners like the Aklan Provincial Mobile Force Company.

This initiative aims to promote health and hygiene among the Akeanon Bukidnon IP Community by improving sanitation practices in GIDAS areas such as Brgy. Manika, Libacao, and Brgy. Agdugayan, Ibajay.

Handwashing soaps were also distributed to encourage proper hygiene.

As of March, we have successfully distributed a total of 20 toilet bowls. We promote a shared ownership approach for the Project TOilet, encouraging heads of families to collaborate in implementing this initiative.
