RC Metro Kalibo’s Project WALK briefs Aklan PWD leaders and extends aid to injured patient

Kalibo, Aklan – On January 14, 2025, the Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo, led by Immediate Past President Ricky Molo and PP Megs Lunn, Executive Director of WALK INC., conducted a briefing for Aklan Province Municipal PWD Focal Persons and PWD Association Presidents.

The briefing focused on the services provided by Rotary Project WALK, including clubfoot treatment. The event was also attended by Rotarians PN Leo and Rtn. Fem Magno.

During the briefing, focal persons who had previously benefited from Rotary’s projects shared their experiences and expressed their gratitude for the organization’s continued support.

A significant outcome of the meeting was the agreement to a Tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which will be formally signed. The meeting was facilitated by Mr. Randy Rebaldo, Aklan Provincial PWD Focal Person.

Following the briefing, the team visited a patient at the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital (DRSTMH), Aklan Provincial Hospital.

The patient, Mr. Loriecarl Dela Cruz-Ilarina, a 22-year-old from Brgy. Sebalew, Banga, Aklan, requires stainless steel for a leg injury sustained in a recent accident.

In a show of solidarity, the Rotary Club of Forbes Park (D3830) and WALK INC. Founding President PP Ed, along with the Board of Directors, approved assistance for the patient.

The patient’s sister was informed of this positive development. The Rotary Club expressed its gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this connection possible, with special thanks to media partner Radio Station XFM Kalibo 96.5.
