RC Makati Paseo de Magallanes Launches Moringa Farming Initiative for Sustainable Nutrition
The Rotary Club of Makati Paseo de Magallanes believes that eco-friendly nutrition frameworks and sustainable agricultural consumption is highly beneficial for accelerating public health development. By adopting sustainable food practices, reducing food waste, supporting local and climate-resilient food production, and strengthening nutrition programs, we can build resilient food systems and ensure better nutrition for all Filipinos—while caring for the environment that sustains us.
To carry on the links between our environment and nutrition as highlighted in this year’s Nutrition Month theme “Nutrisyon at Kalikasan, Ating Pangalagaan”, RCMPM emphasizes that more than the food choices we make every day, a healthy diet rests on healthy ecosystems, productive agricultural lands and fisheries, clean water, protected natural resources, and a stable climate.
In this regard, RCMPM RCC and TBF ’92 initiated the launching of Livelihood Grant Moringa Farming in one of CP Jeanette Mendoza’s farmland in Urdaneta City. With the objective to plant more than 500 Moringa trees, it is expected to create unrestricted supply of healthy Moringa for individual/group sustenance and entrepreneurial function.
RCMPM’s take on this month’s celebration is that a healthy environment is a prerequisite to good nutrition and health. This suggests that everyone in the community plays a role in creating healthier and sustainable food systems.
Individuals and families coming to our RCMPM booth were advised to opt for sustainable diet by choosing foods which are nutritious, affordable, safe, culturally acceptable and environmentally responsible. Reduce waste to conserve and protect resources. Plan meals wisely, store foods properly, consume responsibly or just enough. After all, overeating can lead to overweight, obesity and many more diseases. Choose locally grown or sourced, sustainably produced, seasonal, and whole foods. Support school, home, and community gardens.
Healthy diets need not be expensive nor bought from the grocery.
RCMPM along with TBF ’92 on July 06, 2026 in its perennial program projects participation, once again partakes in the 2026 Nutrition Month in Urdaneta City during the regular Monday Flag Raising Ceremony led by City Health Officer Dr. Rachel Ann A. Parayno, Urdaneta City Government Officials, Medical Officers, Health Consultants, City Health Office personnel, city government employees and Urdaneta City citizens.
