RC Makati North Successfully Holds 13th Service Above Self – Outstanding Teachers Award

The Rotary Club of Makati North (RCMN) proudly held its 13th Service Above Self – Outstanding Teachers Award for Rotary Year 2025–2026 on March 21, 2026, at the Audio-Visual Room of Francisco Benitez Elementary School (FBES) Main. This Vocational Service Project recognizes outstanding educators for their dedication, impact, and tireless commitment to shaping students’ lives.
The event was graced by RCMN members led by UGP Tito Meneses, PE TJ Meneses, PP Boy & Yoling Sevilla, Rtns. Chip Paasa, Charl Arisgado, and Exec Dir. Betty Centeno, alongside officers of RCC Brgy. Sta. Cruz headed by President Ida Rafols, RAC Brgy. Sta. Cruz led by PP Melissa Rafols, and the Interact Club headed by President Jericho Alberto. Teachers from FBES Main and Maximo Estrella Senior High School (MESHS) were also present.

Inspirational Messages
During the ceremony, RCMN President Tito Meneses emphasized that true inspiration often comes from actions and experiences. Highlighting the club’s mentorship and scholarship projects, he noted the importance of supporting students through guidance and school-based programs. Teachers, who work tirelessly beyond regular hours, are key inspirations for shaping the future, much like how Rotarians lead by example in their company and communities.
Meanwhile, school principals Mrs. Romela Sanchez (FBES Main) and Mr. Melvin Canlas (MESHS) extend their congratulations to the two awardees and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to RCMN for initiating and advocating this meaningful project, which honors teachers for their dedication, passion, and love in nurturing their students, as well as in recognizing the educators, emphasizing their vital role in shaping the future of learners. At the same time, thanking the club for their continuous support to both school for the longest time.

In her response, Mrs. Cricel B. Elises (FBES Main) shared:
Mrs. Cricel Elises expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club of Makati North for honoring educators, emphasizing that teaching is not just about academics but about shaping the future, mentoring students, and fostering values. She highlighted the importance of living by principles of fairness, gratitude, and service, and encouraged continued collaboration to build a community rooted in truth, goodwill, and meaningful action.
Mrs. Priscilla M. Agaton (MESHS) also shared her moving testimony:
Mrs. Priscilla Agaton expressed her heartfelt gratitude and humility in receiving the Service Above Self – Outstanding Teacher Award, reflecting on her 42 years of service in both private and public education. She shared her strong advocacy for reading, encapsulated in her “read or die” principle, and her commitment to mentoring fellow teachers. She also highlighted the need to support educators in completing their graduate studies, noting the financial challenges many face. As she nears retirement, she conveyed her hope to continue serving the community and advancing education.
A Special Musical Tribute
Before the program ended, Jhet Chryst Anne Paz, a member of IAC MESHS, captivated the audience with a heartfelt song performance, adding a special touch to the event.
