RC Cebu Gloria Maris Welcomes District Governor Angel “Jong” Fernandez Jr. and Inducts New Members for Greater Service

On August 21, 2025, the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris (RCCGM) proudly hosted the much-anticipated District Governor’s Visit with District Governor Angel “Jong” Fernandez Jr. at the prestigious Magallanes Hall, City Sports Club Cebu.

The event, steeped in fellowship and inspiration, marked a defining moment for RCCGM as it embraced both visionary guidance and new beginnings.

A Visit of Inspiration and Unity

The afternoon began with warm camaraderie as club members welcomed DG Jong Fernandez, whose presence highlighted the significance of the gathering. In his address, he shared his vision for the Rotary Year, emphasizing the power of unity, the urgency of service, and the importance of strengthening Rotary’s impact in communities. His words stirred a sense of purpose, reminding everyone of why they wear the Rotary wheel with pride.

The visit also became a platform for RCCGM’s Board of Directors to present the club’s plans and programs for the year, with focus on two core pillars:

  • Membership Development – growing the club through meaningful recruitment and retention programs, and

  • Public Image – strengthening Rotary’s visibility to better connect with the community.

To complement the presentations, a short video featuring RCCGM’s signature projects was shown, demonstrating how the club continues to bring sustainable change to the lives it touches.

Celebrating Growth: New Members Welcomed

Adding to the joy of the occasion, RCCGM celebrated the induction of two dynamic new members: Ludy Demecillo and Josephine Gerangaya. Their commitment to service and community upliftment resonated deeply with the Rotary spirit. With their induction, the club not only gained additional hands to serve but also new hearts filled with passion and dedication to Service Above Self.

The ceremonial induction was more than just a formal welcome; it was a promise of shared responsibility, growth, and lasting fellowship. The presence of fellow Rotarians, together with the guidance of DG Jong, made the moment even more meaningful.

A Milestone for Fellowship and Service

The District Governor’s Visit and Induction Ceremony was not simply an agenda fulfilled—it was a milestone that underscored RCCGM’s readiness to move forward with renewed vision, strength, and unity. The occasion reflected Rotary’s enduring mission: building friendships, strengthening service, and transforming communities.

The day closed with renewed hope and commitment, as RCCGM vowed to continue embodying the essence of this Rotary Year’s theme: Unite for Good. Indeed, August 21 was not only a celebration of leadership and new beginnings—it was a celebration of what it truly means to be a Rotarian.
