RC Cebu Gloria Maris Supports Community Beneficiaries through Spectrum of Hope Dinner & Auction for a Cause

An evening where compassion, fellowship, and generosity came together to create opportunities for those who need them most.

The grand chandeliers of Casino Español cast a warm glow over an evening defined not by formality, but by purpose.

On February 6, Rotarians, families, and community supporters gathered for the “Spectrum of Hope” Dinner & Auction for a Cause, organized by the Rotary Club of Cebu Fuente. The event brought together individuals united by a single mission—to extend meaningful support to community programs that uplift lives and strengthen families.

Standing alongside this cause was the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris, whose presence reflected Rotary’s enduring spirit of partnership and service. Through collaboration among clubs, the evening demonstrated how collective goodwill can transform a simple gathering into a powerful act of community support.

The night was a reminder that when people unite for a common purpose, generosity becomes a force capable of changing lives.

The historic halls of Casino Español provided the perfect setting for the evening’s program. Guests arrived dressed in elegance, yet the true highlight of the event was the shared sense of responsibility and compassion that filled the room. Conversations flowed easily among Rotarians and supporters, all aware that the evening’s success would extend far beyond the ballroom.

Among the distinguished guests present was Past District Governor Lilu Aliño, whose attendance underscored the district’s continued encouragement of collaborative service initiatives. Also present was Assistant Governor Myra Urbiztondo, joined by her husband Rotarian Alden Urbiztondo and their family—an inspiring reflection of how Rotary service often becomes a shared commitment within families.

Representing the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris were President Roxene Rosario and Secretary Dorothy Borces, whose presence highlighted the club’s unwavering support for initiatives that bring Rotarians together in pursuit of impactful community work.

As the evening progressed, the much-anticipated auction became the centerpiece of the program. Each item presented carried with it a sense of excitement and purpose. Guests eagerly participated, raising their paddles not merely to win an item but to contribute to a cause that aimed to uplift members of the community.

Each bid placed that evening symbolized more than generosity—it represented a shared belief that communities grow stronger when people care enough to act.

The Spectrum of Hope Dinner & Auction served as more than a fundraising activity. It was an affirmation of Rotary’s belief that sustainable change begins when communities rally together in support of meaningful initiatives. By pooling resources and strengthening partnerships, Rotary clubs can extend their reach and bring hope to those who need encouragement and opportunity.

For the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris, participation in events such as this reflects a long-standing commitment to service that transcends individual projects. The club recognizes that impactful community development often requires collaboration, shared vision, and the willingness to support one another’s initiatives.

True service is not measured by individual effort alone, but by the collective impact created when organizations unite for the common good.

Throughout the evening, moments of fellowship blended seamlessly with the spirit of giving. Guests shared stories, celebrated camaraderie, and reflected on the many ways service organizations can continue to make a difference in the lives of others.

As the program concluded and the evening gradually drew to a close, the ballroom that had been filled with laughter, applause, and excitement slowly quieted. Yet the purpose that brought everyone together remained clear.

Events like Spectrum of Hope remind Rotarians that service does not always require grand gestures. Sometimes, it begins with a simple decision—to show up, to support, and to stand beside others who are working to uplift communities.

For the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris, that decision is always guided by the same principle that has defined Rotary for generations: service above self.

And on that memorable evening in February, that principle shone brightly.

Why This Project is Close to the Heart of the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris

The Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris believes that meaningful service often begins with collaboration. Supporting fellow Rotary clubs in initiatives that uplift communities reflects the club’s deep commitment to compassion-driven service.

For Gloria Maris Rotarians, every opportunity to stand alongside partners in service represents another step toward building stronger, more inclusive communities.

“Service becomes most powerful when communities come together with one shared purpose—to uplift others.”
