RC Cebu Gloria Maris Joins Rotary Club of Cebu West in Celebrating 63 Years of Leadership and Legacy

On the evening of June 11, 2025, the Sinulog Ballroom of City Sports Club Cebu transformed into a stage of celebration and continuity as the Rotary Club of Cebu West marked its 63rd Charter Anniversary and Induction Ceremony. The program commenced at 5:00 PM, bringing together a distinguished roster of Rotarians, past and present, in an atmosphere rich with tradition, purpose, and fellowship.
Representing the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris at this momentous event were Past District Governor Lilu Aliño and President Nominee and Director of Public Image, Dorothy Borces. Their attendance reflected not only a gesture of friendship, but a commitment to inter-club unity that defines the fabric of Rotary service across generations.
The program opened with a Call to Order by President Ben Yu, followed by an Invocation from Rotarian Alfred Edison Tan. A poignant moment followed as the national anthems of Singapore, South Korea, and the Philippines were played—signifying international Rotary unity. The Four-Way Test and Rotary Objectives were recited by Rotarian Zenon Jeif Flores, grounding the ceremony in the core principles that have guided the club for over six decades.
Dinner was served alongside an entertainment program that included a delightful dance presentation by the spouses and a song number from the Rotary Club of Banilad Metro, adding warmth and celebration to the formal proceedings.
The Welcome Address by Past Assistant Governor Omar Maxwell Espina set the tone for the evening—an acknowledgment of legacy, gratitude for the present, and a rallying call for continued service. Incoming Secretary Andrew Tan introduced the visiting Rotarians, dignitaries, and guests, giving recognition to the wide circle of support gathered to honor the club’s milestone.
Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris, represented by Past District Governor Lilu Aliño and President Nominee Dorothy Borces, stood in solidarity with their fellow Rotarians—honoring a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
Outgoing President Ben Yu delivered a heartfelt Valedictory Address, reflecting on a year of accomplishments and memories, followed by the awarding of the Rotary Club of Cebu West’s outstanding members and partners.
The highlight of the evening was the 63rd Induction Ceremony, beginning with the Charging of the Incoming Club President by Past District Governor Raymond Patuasi, followed by the Induction by District Governor-Elect Angel “Jong” Fernandez. The Charging of Club Officers was administered by Past District Governor Philip Tan, with the formal Induction led by President Andrew T. Jimenez.
What began as a formal ceremony soon blossomed into a fellowship of shared stories, laughter, and mutual respect—reminding all present that Rotary is not only about service, but about community, connection, and continuity.
Throughout the evening, bonds were strengthened, new friendships were formed, and mutual admiration between clubs deepened. The presence of multiple generations of Rotarians underscored the enduring nature of Rotary’s mission and the bright future ahead.
The Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris continues to foster meaningful participation in events that celebrate legacy while embracing fresh leadership—bridging generations with grace, humility, and purpose.
