RC Cebu Gloria Maris Connects Job Seekers for a Future of Opportunity

By all appearances, it was just another busy day at the Cube Wing of SM Seaside City Cebu—but for hundreds of hopeful applicants, it became a turning point.

A Marketplace of Possibilities

On February 28, 2026, beneath the high ceilings and steady hum of footsteps at the Trabaho Fair, something more meaningful than job applications unfolded. The Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris stepped into the space not merely as participants, but as catalysts—bridging aspirations with tangible opportunities.

Tables lined with resumes, hopeful glances exchanged between applicants and recruiters, and the quiet tension of possibility filled the venue. Amid this, Rotary members moved with purpose, offering guidance, encouragement, and presence. It was not just about employment; it was about dignity, stability, and the chance to rebuild lives through honest work.

AGR Myra Urbiztondo, alongside her husband Rtn. Alden Urbiztondo, joined President Roxene Rosario, Past President Dr. Vivian Dyhongpo, and Past President Che Desucatan in representing the club. Their presence was more than ceremonial—it was deeply intentional. They engaged with job seekers, coordinated with organizers, and ensured that the Rotary spirit of service was felt in every interaction.

More Than a Fair—A Lifeline

The Trabaho Fair served as a convergence point for companies and job seekers, but the Rotary Club’s involvement elevated its purpose. For many attendees, this was not simply a chance to find employment—it was a chance to reclaim hope.

“For countless applicants, this was not just a job fair—it was a doorway to renewed dignity and a second chance at life.”

Rotary members understood the silent stories behind each resume: parents striving to provide, fresh graduates eager to prove themselves, and individuals seeking redemption after setbacks. Their role became one of quiet empowerment—offering reassurance, direction, and a human connection often missing in large-scale events.

Service in Motion

What set the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris apart was not just participation, but engagement. They did not remain on the sidelines; they immersed themselves in the flow of the event. From guiding applicants through processes to encouraging hesitant individuals to step forward, every action reflected Rotary’s commitment to community upliftment.

The club’s involvement also underscored a broader mission: to contribute to sustainable development by addressing one of the most pressing needs—employment. In a rapidly evolving economic landscape, initiatives like these are vital in equipping communities with access and opportunity.

“In a world where opportunity can feel out of reach, Rotary chose to stand in the gap—turning access into action and hope into reality.”

Why This Matters to Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris

For the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris, service is not confined to projects—it is rooted in people. Employment is more than income; it is empowerment. It strengthens families, builds communities, and restores confidence.

This project resonates deeply with the club’s core values because it aligns with their belief that meaningful change begins with enabling individuals to stand on their own. By supporting job seekers, the club extends its impact beyond a single day, influencing lives in lasting and measurable ways.

Their participation reflects a commitment not only to service but to relevance—responding to real, immediate community needs with practical solutions.

A Lasting Impact

As the day drew to a close, the energy within the Cube Wing shifted. Some left with scheduled interviews, others with renewed confidence, and many with a sense that someone cared enough to stand beside them in their journey.

The Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris did not just attend a job fair—they helped shape futures.

“Long after the booths were dismantled and the crowds dispersed, the impact of that day continued—carried in the hands of those who walked away with hope, purpose, and possibility.”

Employment is a cornerstone of stability. By helping individuals secure jobs, the project contributes to poverty reduction, family well-being, and overall community resilience.

In every handshake, every word of encouragement, and every opportunity made possible, the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris demonstrated what it truly means to serve—not just with action, but with heart.
