RC Cebu Gloria Maris Celebrates the Rotary Club of Cebu’s 93rd Year of Transformative Service and Generational Leadership

The Grand Ballroom of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu became a distinguished venue for fellowship, tradition, and the symbolic passing of leadership as the Rotary Club of Cebu held its 93rd Induction and Handover Ceremonies last June 21, 2025 at 6:00 PM. The evening gathered esteemed Rotarians from across Cebu and neighboring districts, uniting to witness the formal installation of the club’s new officers and board of directors for Rotary Year 2025–2026.


Representing the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris at this prestigious occasion were Past District Governor Lilu Aliño, Assistant Governor - Elect Christine Tan Ashby, and President Nominee Dorothy Borces. Their presence reflected the enduring camaraderie and mutual support among Rotary clubs in the region, highlighting the shared commitment to continuity, growth, and collaborative leadership.



The event commenced with a formal Call to Order by outgoing President Shigejiro Onda, followed by an invocation and solemn renditions of the Philippine National Anthem and the Rotary Hymn led by Director Ryan Raymond Yu. The Four-Way Test was delivered with conviction by Director Roberto Atienza Jr., reinforcing Rotary’s foundational values.


Incoming President George Neil Paraoan, serving as the club’s President Nominee, welcomed guests with an address that balanced gratitude and forward vision. The recognition of dignitaries, visiting Rotarians, and special guests was graciously led by District Rotary Foundation Chair Stephen Chian, affirming the strong network of fellowship that continues to bind Rotary communities together.


A key highlight of the evening was the induction of new members, a moment that marks renewal and sustained service. This segment was led by Incoming President Charles Ong and Rotarian Wendel Chiu, with the formal charging conducted by Past President Mike Torres and the induction by Past President Edward Gaisano.


Incoming Assistant Governor Walter Cang introduced the Guest of Honor, paving the way for a rousing Inspirational Message by District Governor-Elect Angel G. Fernandez Jr. His speech emphasized the evolving role of Rotary in today’s interconnected world and encouraged leaders to meet the coming Rotary year with innovation and heart.


Outgoing President Shigejiro Onda then delivered his Valedictory Address, expressing heartfelt appreciation to his board and members while reflecting on the milestones of the past year. The ceremonial Charging of the Incoming President was entrusted to Past District Governor Lilu Aliño, who serves as Zone 10A Assistant Public Image Coordinator, lending weight and continuity to the ceremonial transition.


The Charging and Induction of the Incoming Board and Officers of the Rotary Club of Cebu was performed by Past Assistant Governor Jacob Ong and President Charles Vincent Ong, signaling a new chapter of purposeful service and dynamic leadership. The event concluded with closing remarks from the club’s President Nominee, Edward Tan Ting, who reaffirmed the club’s direction moving forward.


The evening was gracefully hosted by Rotarian Aris Kintanar and Ms. Jamie Javier, who guided the flow of the program with warmth and poise.


The Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris continues to take pride in celebrating the milestones of fellow clubs, affirming its commitment to shared service, inter-club fellowship, and meaningful representation. 

The club extends its congratulations to the newly inducted officers and pledges continued collaboration in advancing Rotary’s mission of service above self.
