RC Baguio Highlands Leads Community-Run Water System Project in Bontoc

The Rotary Club of Baguio Highlands (RCBH) is proud to announce its latest major initiative—the Community-Run Water System Project for Barangay Dalican, Bontoc, Mountain Province. This project aims to provide a continuous and safe water supply to 984 residents across 228 households, ensuring improved access to one of life’s most essential needs.

On August 15, 2025, our RCBH team paid a courtesy visit to Bontoc Mayor Franklin C. Odsey at the Municipal Capitol to present and coordinate plans for the project. The following day, August 16, a team of technical experts—including a surveyor, civil engineer, mechanical engineer, architect, and sanitary engineer—conducted an initial site survey and feasibility study along a three-kilometer stretch from the water source to the community.

The water system project is not only designed to meet Dalican’s practical needs but also to foster peacebuilding and conflict prevention. By addressing previous disputes over water jurisdiction, RCBH seeks to help build unity and stability within the community and its neighboring areas.

RCBH has committed to covering all project costs and overseeing every phase of development: inspection, planning, engineering, procurement of materials, and construction. In true spirit of bayanihan, the people of Dalican will actively participate by providing laborers and assisting in the hauling of materials.

Planned activities within the 100-day timeline include ocular inspections for the water tank and pipeline layout, consultations with community elders and barangay officials, securing approvals from the Barangay Council and LGU, delivery of materials, and eventual construction of the water system.

Through this project, the Rotary Club of Baguio Highlands reaffirms its dedication to “Service Above Self” by turning collaboration, compassion, and expertise into lasting impact for communities in need.
