A significant milestone was reached today at Dontogan Elementary School with the groundbreaking ceremony for its new comfort rooms and the turnover of an interactive television, both generously funded by the Global Grant Project of the Rotary Club of Baguio Highlands. These initiatives aim to enhance the school’s facilities, creating a more inclusive, modern, and supportive learning environment for students and staff.
The event was graced by Gov. Dan Torres, who expressed his support for the dedication and commitment of the Rotary Club of Baguio Highlands in advancing education and community welfare. Also present were Chief Nino Tibangay, Public Schools District Supervisor, Rosie Beel A. Marzo, School Head Jacque Fianza, faculty members, parents, students, and Rotary Club representatives led by their president, Ponciano Valdez Jr. “This project is a testament to our shared commitment to improving lives, supporting education, and fostering a brighter future for the community. Together we are building, not just structures, but opportunities for growth and well-being,” said President Valdez in his message. He, along with fellow Rotary officials, emphasized collaboration, generosity, and the importance of ensuring quality education for every child.
The new comfort rooms will feature separate urinals for boys, two facilities for females, a dedicated unit for Persons with Disabilities (PWD), a wash area, and a water tank to ensure steady and reliable water supply. In addition to the groundbreaking, the Rotary Club of Baguio Highlands turned over an interactive TV to support digital learning and distributed food packs to 60 learners, further demonstrating their commitment to student welfare.
School Head Jacque Fianza and Ms. Marzo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Rotary Club for these invaluable contributions. “This project will greatly benefit our students and staff, providing them with modern, accessible, and much-needed facilities. We are deeply thankful for the generosity and support of the Rotary Club of Baguio Highlands,” they said.
Construction of the new comfort rooms is set to begin immediately and is expected to be completed by the end of September. The school community looks forward to the completed projects, which promise to significantly improve both the learning environment and overall student well-being.
