The Climate Change Task Force, a coalition of customary law practitioners and community-based organizations, was formally inducted in Quezon City, marking a significant milestone in advancing community-led climate governance and legal advocacy.
Commissioner Albert Pagcu Dela Cruz of the Climate Change Commission graced the event as Guest of Honor, reaffirming the national government’s support for grassroots and multi-sectoral efforts in tackling the climate crisis.
The ceremony also featured the participation of distinguished leaders from the ASEAN Carbon Market Sustainability Council (ACMSC). United Chosen President Sheryll Ann Mesina, newly appointed President of the ACMSC, joined the event alongside former Agriculture Secretary William Dar, who serves as Chairman of the Council. Their presence underscored the commitment to regional cooperation and the sustainable development of carbon markets.
Other officers of the ACMSC, as well as members of the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila and Rotary Club of Manila Villamor, also attended the event. Their collective support emphasized the vital role of synergy between local initiatives and international frameworks in developing climate solutions.
The induction ceremony marked not only the establishment of the Climate Change Task Force but also a renewed commitment to community empowerment, environmental justice, and sustainable development at every level.
