HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign Organized by the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila on October 8, 2025.
Every day, 40 to 50 new HIV cases are reported in the Philippines. Among the most heartbreaking was the case of a 12-year-old child from Palawan, a stark reminder that HIV/AIDS transcends age, status, and location. The increasing number of cases highlights the urgency to educate, prevent, and eliminate the stigma associated with the disease.
In response, United Chosen President (UCP) Sheryll Ann Mesina of the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila is taking a strong stand against this silent epidemic by spearheading a meaningful and compassionate initiative — the HIV/AIDS Awareness Film Showing and Symposium — aimed at raising awareness, fostering understanding, and promoting prevention.
Event Highlights – October 8, 2025:
A thought-provoking film that explores the realities, struggles, and hope surrounding those affected by HIV/AIDS.
A symposium featuring healthcare professionals, community advocates, and support groups sharing insights on prevention, treatment, and compassionate care.
A Q&A session offering a safe space for participants to ask questions and break the silence around the disease.
Advancing Rotary’s 7 Areas of Focus:
This campaign aligns with Rotary’s mission to promote global well-being and sustainable community solutions:
Disease Prevention and Treatment – Raising awareness and promoting regular testing and access to proper care.
Maternal and Child Health – Emphasizing early education and protection of vulnerable families.
Basic Education and Literacy – Equipping communities with life-saving knowledge.
Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution – Fighting discrimination and stigma with empathy and action.
Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) – Reinforcing the importance of hygiene in health promotion.
Community and Economic Development – Strengthening the capacity of communities to support those affected.
Supporting the Environment – Encouraging sustainable health outreach practices for long-term impact.
This bold campaign, led by UCP Sheryll Ann Mesina, reflects the heart of Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self — a call to protect lives, elevate awareness, and extend compassion to those affected by HIV/AIDS.
Let’s unite to end the stigma, save lives, and inspire communities to take action.
Join us in making a difference. Because awareness saves lives — and every life matters.
