RC Aseana Manila Joins Tree Planting Drive in Tanay, Rizal

On August 16, 2025, the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila, led by UCP Sheryll Ann Mesina, joined forces with the Miriam College Environmental Studies Institute (ESI) and Couples for Christ (CFC) for a tree planting activity in the remote mountains of Barangay Sto. Niño, Tanay, Rizal.

The activity was more than just a tree planting—it was a celebration of community, climate action, and shared purpose. To reach the planting site, the volunteers traveled through narrow mountain trails and even crossed a rocky river aboard a jeepney, turning the trip into an adventurous journey filled with laughter and camaraderie.

In a lighthearted moment, UCP Mesina shared how she accidentally lost her balance during the bumpy ride and landed on the very saplings they were bringing—an incident that brought laughter to the group and underscored the reality that meaningful work in the field often comes with unexpected challenges.

Despite the mud and bumps along the way, the team successfully planted saplings that will one day restore the land, support biodiversity, and strengthen watershed protection in the area. For the participants, every tree planted symbolized resilience, hope, and commitment to climate action.

Looking ahead, the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila is committed to working closely with Miriam College ESI and CFC on even bigger reforestation initiatives, reinforcing Rotary’s dedication to Environmental Sustainability—one of Rotary International’s key areas of focus.

This initiative highlights how Rotarians, as People of Action, continue to protect the environment and build a sustainable future for generations to come.
