RC Aseana Manila Engages ACMSC in Strategic Planning for ASEAN 2026 Climate Priorities

The ASEAN Carbon Market Sustainability Council (ACMSC) convened its Board Meeting and Strategic Planning Session at the office of the Climate Change Commission (CCC) in Malacañang, hosted by CCC Commissioner Albert Dela Cruz. The meeting was led by ACMSC Chairman William Dar and President Sheryll Ann Mesina, together with members of the Executive Committee, to align the Council’s strategic initiatives in support of ASEAN 2026, to be hosted by the Philippines.

As the host country, the Philippines will welcome ASEAN leaders and key stakeholders in 2026, highlighting regional cooperation, sustainability, and climate leadership under the chairmanship of Congresswoman Rachel Arenas. The hosting of ASEAN 2026 places the Philippines at the forefront of regional climate and sustainability discourse, particularly in advancing collaborative solutions to climate change and sustainable development.

In line with this regional agenda, the ACMSC deliberated on its strategic role in advancing carbon market development, sustainability programs, and multi-sectoral partnerships that support ASEAN priorities. Discussions focused on strengthening policy alignment, enabling climate finance mechanisms, and expanding collaborative platforms that encourage both public and private sector participation across ASEAN member states.

Among the key initiatives discussed was the engagement of the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila through its flagship environmental sustainability project, EcoSaver, as a platform for community-based climate action and regional collaboration. The initiative aims to translate ASEAN-level sustainability goals into grassroots impact, while fostering cross-border partnerships and knowledge exchange.

This collaborative effort will be led by Sheryll Ann Mesina, current President of the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila, together with Alicia Allyson Santos, President-Elect, in support of the ASEAN 2026 objectives. The partnership underscores Rotary’s role as a trusted convener and implementation partner in advancing inclusive, community-driven solutions that contribute to regional sustainability and climate resilience.
