PROJECT P.I.L.O.S. (President's Initiative of Love and Outpouring Support for Kids) - Nurturing Young Hearts Through Service

Service becomes even more meaningful when it touches the lives of the young. Guided by this belief, the Rotary Club of Navotas proudly implemented Project P.I.L.O.S. (President’s Initiative of Love & Outpouring Support for Kids), a District Grant Project that ran for five months—from October 2025 to March 2026—dedicated to nurturing the minds, values, and well-being of children in the community.

The groundwork for the project began on September 27, 2025, when the Rotary Club of Navotas clubhouse became a center of collaboration and planning. Rotary officers and members, including Secretary Godorico Miranda and Youth Chairman Richard Lucas, met together with the enthusiastic members of the Rotaract Club of Navotas and the Rotaract Club of Navotas Polytechnic College to prepare for the implementation of the initiative. The meeting focused on coordinating with partner barangays, sending formal letters of communication, and identifying children aged 7–10 years old who would benefit from the program.

With the support of four barangays, the project moved forward as local officials welcomed the initiative and assisted in providing the list of eligible children from their communities.

Rotaractors further strengthened the preparation phase by conducting house-to-house visits to identify potential beneficiaries. During these visits, volunteers met with parents and guardians to explain the goals of Project PILOS and gather essential information to ensure that the children would receive the full benefits of the program.

The official launch of the project took place on October 5, 2025, through a Parents’ Orientation held at the RC Navotas Clubhouse. The orientation marked the beginning of a collaborative partnership between Rotary and the families of the beneficiaries. Parents and guardians were introduced to the objectives, structure, and activities of the program, as well as the important role they play in supporting their children’s participation. The session also provided an overview of Rotary’s mission and its commitment to community service and youth development.

Throughout the five-month program, Project PILOS conducted weekly sessions designed to nurture the holistic development of the participating children. The project centered on values formation, recognizing that strong character is the foundation for responsible citizenship and lifelong learning. Through engaging discussions, storytelling, mentorship, and interactive activities, the children were guided to understand the importance of kindness, cooperation, respect, discipline, and service to others.

In addition to values education, the project also integrated literacy development activities and nutritional support through a feeding program, ensuring that the learners were supported both intellectually and physically. These sessions were facilitated by dedicated Rotarians, Rotaractors, and volunteers who generously shared their time, knowledge, and compassion to inspire the young participants.

The program created a positive and nurturing environment where the children were encouraged to express themselves, build friendships, and develop confidence in their abilities. Week after week, the learners demonstrated growth not only in their understanding of values but also in their enthusiasm to participate and contribute.

The journey of Project PILOS reached its meaningful conclusion during the Rotary Week 2026 celebration, with a culminating activity and graduation ceremony held at Jollibee Navotas in March 2026. The event served as a joyful celebration of the students’ achievements and the collective efforts of everyone who made the program possible. The graduating participants were proudly recognized as official completers of Project PILOS, marking the successful completion of their five-month learning journey.

The celebration was attended by the dedicated Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Navotas, along with the valuable support of SAG Angie Sioco, Rotaractors, and volunteers who helped make the event memorable for the students. Their presence highlighted the spirit of fellowship and unity that defines Rotary service.

Project PILOS was made possible through the support of Rotary International District 3800 as a District Grant Project under the leadership of District Governor Gina Sanchez. Their commitment to empowering communities and supporting youth initiatives played a vital role in bringing this meaningful program to life.

The Rotary Club of Navotas also extends its sincere appreciation to Jollibee Navotas for generously hosting the culminating activity and providing a welcoming venue for the celebration.

More than just a program, Project PILOS became a transformative journey for the participating children. Through guidance, encouragement, and care, the project nurtured not only their learning but also their character and aspirations. The smiles, pride, and excitement seen during the graduation ceremony reflected the lasting impact the initiative had on their lives.

As the students move forward, the Rotary Club of Navotas hopes that the values, lessons, and inspiration they gained from Project PILOS will continue to guide them in becoming responsible individuals and future leaders in their communities.

Indeed, Project PILOS stands as a powerful testament to the Rotary principle of Service Above Self—demonstrating that when compassion, collaboration, and dedication come together, lives are uplifted and brighter futures are created.

Service Above Self.
