Rotary Club of Forbes Park (D3830) and Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo collaborates with Breastfeeding Mommies of Aklan. Following the success of our initial phase, we conducted a new needs assessment with mothers and decided to host the Postpartum Care Awareness: Nurture The Nurturer event on November 16, 2024.
Postpartum care is often overlooked, but it's a crucial aspect of a mother's journey after childbirth. Raising awareness about the importance of postpartum care is essential for ensuring the physical and mental well-being of new mothers. From physical recovery to emotional support, proper postpartum care empowers mothers to navigate this transformative period with confidence and strength.
The Breastfeeding Mommies of Aklan event, led by Event Directors Ms. Maimai Inosanto and PP Megs Lunn, provided a fun and informative experience for its 50 participants. The event included a getting-to-know game using old photos of the mothers with their children, followed by insightful presentations from expert speakers Ms. Athea Christi L. Tropa, RPM and Ms. Ana Mae E. Teodosio, RPM.
The speaker for the second session shared her own personal experience of postpartum, as a single mother of two. Her story, a testament to her strength and resilience, was both inspiring and insightful, especially coming from a psychometrician professional. Three other mothers bravely shared their experiences, and their vulnerability was deeply appreciated.
Plaques of Appreciation and tokens were awarded to the speakers. Rotary Care Bags (Babywipes, oil, soap, vitamins and alcohol) were distributed to all attendees by Breastfeeding Mommies of Aklan Founding President Richell Ann, Rotarians Megs, Edwin, Fem, and Leo. Meanwhile, a dozen of mommies also received FREE Baby Breastfeeding Cover, then everyone enjoyed the meals served.
The event was covered by media partners Kalibo Cable TV and Love Radio, held at Manjo's Pizza Gourmet in Kalibo, Aklan.
