The recent kickoff of Pagpupugay sa Kabayanihan ng Pasig Pulis, held last Monday, February 2, 2026, marked another milestone in the continuing partnership between the Rotary Club of Pasig and the Pasig Philippine National Police.
It was a moment filled with gratitude, respect, and shared purpose. During the Monday flag ceremony at the Pasig PNP headquarters, I had the privilege of delivering a short message to the men and women in uniform.
When we announced the start of this year’s Pagpupugay Awards, genuine appreciation filled the room—many expressed their thanks, there were warm smiles, and firm handshakes. It was a simple reminder that recognition truly matters.
In my message, I conveyed our sincere gratitude for their courage and unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and order in Pasig. Our community feels secure knowing that they faithfully carry out their duty. The trust and confidence of the people rest on their dedication to serve and protect.
Beyond recognition, Pagpupugay is about honoring service and strengthening trust between the police and the community. As our benefactor, Rtn. Chony Gimenez, often says, “Mahal ko ang mga pulis.” That statement captures the spirit of this initiative.
We sealed this commitment once again through the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement for Pagpupugay sa Kabayanihan ng Pulis, together with Pasig ACOPA - Lt. Col. Dela Rosa, and witnessed by PP John Javier, Dir. Gary Ona, and Dir. Roland Vasquez.
Now in its fifth year, the project continues to deepen mutual trust between the police and the community—reflecting Rotary’s commitment to Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention and truly living out Service Above Self.
