One Wheelchair, One Life Changed

“A wheelchair may seem small, but for him, it’s life renewed.”

For one man in Binangonan, complications from diabetes had left him unable to walk. A serious foot wound and numbness made everyday life a struggle—moving around his home, visiting the clinic, even stepping outside felt impossible.

When he reached out to Rotary, our Club President, Manolito Lito Cartin, immediately contacted President-Elect Lia Arabit of the Rotary Club of Angono. Together, they found a solution: a wheelchair that would restore not only mobility but dignity.

“His eyes lit up as he moved the wheelchair on his own for the first time.”

During the turnover, PP Gene Arabit demonstrated safe use, guiding him outside over uneven paths. The beneficiary felt freedom and independence for the first time in over a year. Medicines were also provided to help manage his diabetic condition, ensuring that the support was comprehensive and sustainable.

This small act of kindness has a ripple effect: it restores confidence, inspires the community, and shows that teamwork and compassion can transform lives.

Through projects like this, Rotary continues to embody Service Above Self. It’s a reminder that even the smallest gesture, when done with love and urgency, can make a world of difference.
