It was a morning filled with laughter, storytime, and inspiration at Ospital ng Makati on November 15, 2025, as the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong Premier, together with the Rotary Club of ManPaSan and La Salle Green Hills Batch 79 Silverde Association, came together for a meaningful outreach dubbed “Nourishing Young Minds, One Book at a Time.”
Dr. Alvin Florentino, Chairman of the hospital’s Pediatric Department and his team welcomed the Rotarians and assisted in distributing books and packed foods for 60 young patients from the Pediatrics Ward who were strong enough to join the morning activities.
A lively storytelling session captivated the children with the magic of words and pictures. Spouse Ablet Diy generously donated the majority of the collection from the books her own children enjoyed when they were young. Her heartfelt gesture turned personal memories into sources of joy and comfort for many young readers.
Around ten other children, together with their families/watchers were reached as Rotarians continued by visiting the other wards on the third floor after the program.
Each smile, each thank-you whispered by patients and parents alike, became a quiet reminder of Rotary’s mission: that service above self can begin with small acts of care. Books became bridges of hope, connecting hearts and generations in a shared love for learning and healing.
As the final pages were turned and the day came to a close, every volunteer carried home the same message that echoed through the halls of the hospital that when we nourish young minds, we also nurture the spirit of community, empathy, and hope.
