Learning Resource Center of Pulong Bunga Elementary School

The Pulong Bunga Elementary School in Silang, Cavite does not have a library, a facility that should have been a standard in any educational institution. With over 300 students attending classes in shifts throughout the day, the priority has always been to increase the number of classrooms. But a library is also important. A depository of books is a treasury, a world of learning that fosters an open mind and a free spirit. The principal, Ms. Maila Norada Pantoja, knows this too. But with limited space and funds, building an edifice that is more than just a library is very much welcome.

Here comes the Rotary Club of San Juan Central, with its members who are mostly educators in various fields. The Club unanimously decided to build a learning resource center within the school compound, an eighty square meter structure with a landscaped periphery. This building will be the main library and study hall, furnished with bookshelves, tables and chairs, computers, printers, and a photocopier. The faculty members expressed their desire to use this as a classroom too.

Construction of the main building began in June 2025 and was recently finished this month of April 2026. Although the necessary equipment for a fully-functioning learning resource center are yet to be installed, the edifice is completely built and is ready for occupancy, which makes the community of Pulong Bunga Elementary School bustle with excitement.

For this project, the Rotary Club of San Juan Central partnered with a local business: the Casa Grande Flora Corporation, which owns and operates a garden events place in Pulong Bunga, Silang, Cavite. Their collaboration made it possible for the expansion of the project beyond just the four walls of the building.

A peripheral garden is currently in place right outside the main structure of the learning resource center. However, this will expand into pocket gardens furnished with benches and lawns of grass where students can sit comfortably while reading under the trees – a Reading Park, so to speak.

The Learning Resource Center of the Pulong Bunga Elementary School is set to be a continuing project with sustainability as its underlying theme. This project is scheduled for inauguration, with a momentous ribbon-cutting ceremony, on the 12th of May 2026 at 10:30 AM at the school grounds.
