Kalusugan at Liwanag: A Mission of Healing and Hope in Talim Island

The Rotary Club of Rizal Centro, together with its mission partners, delivered health and hope to the residents of Barangay Navotas, Talim Island, Cardona, Rizal through a two-phase medical, surgical, and gift-giving mission that served over 400 beneficiaries.

Phase 1: Diagnostics and Early Care (August 23, 2025)

The first phase focused on preventive and diagnostic services, reaching around 300 residents, primarily senior citizens. With the help of Maezelle Psycho Metier and Diagnostic Center, patients underwent blood chemistry, X-ray, and ECG tests, ensuring accurate results for later treatments.

The event also included an Optical Mission spearheaded by the Rotary Club of VisMin and Celsus Optical, providing eye checkups and corrective lenses. To extend compassion to children, partners from the QC Victors Eagles Club organized a “Tsinelas Para sa Kabataan” giveaway.

These initial efforts allowed doctors to gather critical information in preparation for the second phase.

Phase 2: Comprehensive Medical & Surgical Care (August 30, 2025)

The second phase brought continuity and complete care. While serving 100 new and returning patients, its impact was deeper—patients came back with their diagnostic results, enabling doctors to prescribe the right treatments. With the strong support of Mission Hospital, Grand Mission Eagles, Grand Libis Eagles, and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, the mission provided:

- Medical consultations & free medicines

- Minor surgeries & circumcision

- OB-GYN services including pap smear

- ECG follow-ups

- Gift packs and warm community meals

This holistic approach ensured residents received not just immediate relief, but proper follow-up care.

Powered by Generosity and Service

The mission was made possible through the generosity of Grand Monaco Foundation, Tact Home Philippines, and Dynalab Corporation, and the commitment of 110 volunteers, who dedicated more than 1,300 service hours.

In total, contributions amounted to over US$62,000.00 worth of in-kind support (medicines, equipment, logistics, meals, professional services) and US$2,000.00 in cash donations, funding transportation, supplies, and volunteer mobilization.

More Than a Mission

"Kalusugan at Liwanag" went beyond the traditional concept of a medical mission. By combining diagnostics with treatment, and by returning for follow-ups, the project became a model of continuity and compassion, showing how Rotary and its partners bring not just care, but also dignity and lasting hope to communities.
