Free Immunization Drive Safeguards Children in Brgy. Tigayon

Every child deserves a healthy start in life, and access to basic healthcare is the foundation of a thriving community. 

On August 17, 2026, the ongoing Free Vitamin A and Measles-Rubella Immunization Drive at Barangay Tigayon, Kalibo, Aklan, directly addresses this need. Led by the Department of Health (DOH), LGU Kalibo RHU, Barangay Health Worker (BHW), and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Aklan Chapter, alongside Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo led by Pres. Leo Franklin Magno, this initiative serves as a vital shield for young children aged 6 months to 5 years against life-threatening, preventable diseases.

​Measles and rubella are highly contagious viral infections that can cause severe complications, including pneumonia, encephalitis, and severe birth defects if contracted during pregnancy. 

Timely vaccination builds community immunity and stops outbreaks before they start. Vitamin A supplementation is a proven, cost-effective intervention that boosts a child's immune system, reduces the severity of common childhood infections, and prevents blindness.

By delivering these services directly to the neighborhood level, the initiative removes logistical barriers for mothers and caregivers, ensuring that essential maternal and child health resources reach those who need them most.

Following the launch on August 10, parents and guardians across Kalibo are encouraged to bring their eligible children for these critical health interventions before the August 28, 2026 deadline.
