Empowering Growth: Dumagat Community Alliance Network- Plant Nursery Orientation

On February 14, 2025, at the Luntiang Maynila Camp in DRT, Bulacan, a noteworthy project was conducted under the auspices of the ESRAG-Climate Solutions Task Force Ambassador, Past President Arnil Señoron from the Rotary Club of Luntiang Maynila Prime.

The event, titled "Plant Nursery Operations and Management Orientation Seminar," was designed to empower the newly organized Rotary Community Corps of the Dumagat Community Alliance Network. The initiative marked a significant milestone not only for the community but also coincided with the first anniversary of the Rotary Club of Luntiang Maynila Prime.

The event was spearheaded by Charter President CP Elberto Regis, who decided to focus on community empowerment rather than traditional anniversary celebrations. This choice highlighted a commitment to service and development for the local community. In a spirit of giving and support, CP Regis distributed food-grocery items, multi-vitamins, and medicines to the participants, ensuring that they left the seminar not only with knowledge but also with resources to support their health and wellbeing.

The Dumagat Community Alliance Network was ably represented by its newly elected President, Marcelino Fajardo, along with dedicated members, including Ricardo Ore, Mark Louie Bayrante, Samuel Marcelino, Ronald Ore, Ryan Cuison, Mark Anthony Borja, Jennifer Ore, Ryan De Guzman, and Cecilio Joaquin. This engaged team is committed to improving the livelihoods and preserving the agricultural heritage of their community.

Prior to the orientation seminar, participants actively engaged in a hands-on activity by planting 50 kalamansi seedlings. This practical approach not only reinforced the seminar’s focus on plant nursery operations but also instilled a sense of accomplishment and environmental stewardship among the participants. It was an excellent way to connect theory with practice, providing an immediate and tangible impact.

The orientation seminar itself provided valuable insights into effective nursery operations and management, covering topics such as seedling care, growth conditions, and sustainability practices. PP Arnil Señoron utilized his expertise to equip the attendees with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their responsibilities in maintaining and managing the plant nursery effectively.

After the successful completion of the seminar, participants gathered to enjoy a delicious serving of pansit, a traditional Filipino noodle dish that symbolizes long life and good fortune. This communal meal fostered camaraderie and celebration among the members of the Dumagat Community Alliance Network.

The Plant Nursery Operations and Management Orientation Seminar was a successful demonstration of community engagement and capacity building. Led by compassionate Rotary leaders, the project not only celebrated the anniversary of the Rotary Club of Luntiang Maynila Prime but also laid the groundwork for sustainable community development within the Dumagat Community Alliance Network. The event served as a model of how Rotary’s mission can be realized through empowering local communities, promoting agricultural education, and fostering a spirit of collaboration and support.
