District 3800 Zone 5 6K Project: United in Rotary Service for Community and Sustainability

In a strong manifestation of unity and purposeful service, the Rotary Clubs of Zone 5 of R.I. District 3800 successfully implemented their 6K Project—a collaborative community initiative anchored on Kalikasan, Kalinisan, Kagandahan, Kalusugan, Katubigan, at Kapaskuhan. The project was hosted by the Rotary Club of Tanay, led by GP Rampton Frias, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Baras, under the leadership of GP Kathrine Robles, with the active participation of Rotary and Rotaract clubs across Zone 5.

The 6K Project was conducted at Sitio San Roque, Barangay Pinugay, Baras, Rizal, directly serving a community composed of 799 individuals, 199 households, and 203 families. This underserved community became the primary beneficiary of the integrated service activities, carefully designed to address immediate needs while promoting long-term sustainability.

The project was implemented through six complementary service interventions: 1. Feeding Program – Distribution of hot meals and lugaw to provide nourishment and immediate relief to community members, 2. Libreng Gupit (Haircutting Activity) – Free haircut services for women, promoting dignity, confidence, and personal care, 3. Distribution of Water Gallons and AquaTabs – Ensuring access to safe and potable drinking water, 4. Seedling Distribution and Promotion of Seed Propagation – Encouraging environmental protection and sustainable practices, 5. Distribution of Christmas Gift Packs – Sharing joy, hope, and compassion during the Christmas season and 6. Distribution of Handwashing and Dishwashing Soaps – Strengthening household hygiene and sanitation practices.

Through its holistic approach, the 6K Project successfully contributed to five (5) of Rotary’s seven Areas of Focus, namely: (i) Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), through the distribution of water gallons, AquaTabs, and hygiene supplies to promote clean water and disease prevention; (ii) Environment, which was strengthened through seedling production, propagation, and distribution, reinforcing environmental stewardship; (iii) Maternal and Child Health, through free haircutting services for women, contributing to dignity, self-care, and overall well-being; (iv) Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (Supporting Role), in that the feeding program and hygiene initiatives supported general wellness and preventive health; and (v) Community Economic and Social Development, which was addressed by improving access to basic needs such as food, water, sanitation, and environmental awareness.

The principles of Kalinisan and Katubigan were closely linked through the promotion of clean water using AquaTabs, while Kalikasan was reinforced through environmental initiatives. The Kapaskuhan component reflected the spirit of generosity and service during the Christmas season.

The success of the 6K Project was made possible through the collective efforts of the following clubs and leaders: Rotary Club of Baras – GP Kathrine Robles (Host Club), RC Tanay – GP Rampton Frias (Co-Host Club), RC East Rizal – GP Vellin Datuin-Collado, RC Morong – GP Arlene Layacan, RC Lakeshore Rizal – GP Fe Guillermo, RC Rizal Centro – GP Jerome Carpio, RC Angono – GP Elvira Bismonte, RC Taytay – GP Ruby Dayrit, RC Teresa – GP Frederic Inguito, RC Rizal Mideast – GP Richeen Padua, RC Antipolo East – GP Maria Cristina Rodriguez, RC Jalajala – GP Joselito Pillas, RC Rizal Premier – GP Veronica Atienza, RC Greater Pililla – GP Cherry Vidanes, RC Upper Eastside Antipolo – GP Vcky Solis, RC Paraiso na Rizal – GP Maria Merle San Antonio, RC Metro Cainta – GP Ranjee Samarista, and RC Rizal Urban – GP Evangeline Pino.
