On July 28, 2025, a meaningful and productive planning meeting was held between the Climate Change Commission and dedicated Rotarians to set the stage for a large-scale tree planting initiative in Camarines Sur. This collaboration represents a vital step toward addressing the climate crisis through collective environmental action.
Among the passionate Rotarians present was United Chosen President Sheryll Ann Mesina of the Rotary Club of Aseana Manila, whose eager participation and commitment to climate-related projects exemplify the spirit of Rotary leadership. Her active involvement in the discussions reflects her long-standing advocacy for sustainability, environmental protection, and grassroots impact.
The initiative aims to plant thousands of trees in ecologically vulnerable areas, helping to restore ecosystems, combat deforestation, protect biodiversity, and mitigate the effects of climate change—especially for communities at risk of flooding, erosion, and displacement.
The project also aligns with Rotary International’s Area of Focus: Supporting the Environment, reinforcing the global Rotary community’s pledge to protect and preserve our planet for future generations.
With the strong support of local government units, national agencies, environmental advocates, and volunteers, this effort demonstrates what can be accomplished when diverse sectors come together with a shared purpose.
This upcoming tree planting activity is more than just an environmental project—it’s a movement of hope, growth, and action. As UCP Sheryll Ann Mesina and her fellow Rotarians have shown, it takes committed leaders to inspire change—and it begins one tree at a time.
Let us continue to work hand in hand, creating a legacy of green solutions and climate resilience for the Philippines.
Together, we grow a greener future.
