In pursuit of improving community health and well-being, the Rotary Club of Marikina Valley successfully implemented “Bukal ng Pag-asa,” a meaningful initiative focused on providing sustainable access to clean and safe drinking water.
Conducted on October 12, 2025, during the Club’s signature “One Day, Seven Ways to Serve” project, the activity was held in Purok 3, Barangay Pintong Bukawe, San Mateo, Rizal. The project included the donation and installation of water filters in a source of spring water in the community, which would directly help 25 families including those from farming and resident households.
The need for the project was identified through careful coordination and consultations with the Local Government Unit of San Mateo, Rizal, particularly the Agriculture Office, along with partner organizations. Site inspection and discussion with the community provided the project team insights into the needs of the people, wherein the availability of safe drinking water became a major concern.
In addition to providing and installation of the water filters, the beneficiaries were educated about how to properly use and maintain it to ensure long term sustainability. The information will empower families in sustaining their health as it allows them to practice proper handling and helping them maintain safe water practices and improve overall household hygiene.
“Bukal ng Pag-asa” is not only a water filter project but a source of health, dignity, and hope. By meeting an essential need of the community, the Rotary Club of Marikina Valley continues to make an impact that will lead to a healthier community.
