In a resounding display of compassion and community spirit, the D3860 Disasters Management Inc., in partnership with the Rotary Club of Tagum North, spearheaded the Bangon Manay Relief Operation on October 21, 2025, bringing critical aid to the Municipality of Manay, Davao Oriental, after a recent earthquake.
Led by Past Assistant Governor (PAG) Jose Alvic P. Suaybaguio and Club President Jason James S. Ebdao, the initiative was the result of meticulous planning and collaboration. Before launching the relief efforts, the RC Tagum North conducted a disaster needs assessment survey and closely coordinated with the Municipal Disaster Response Team of Manay to ensure that the operation directly addressed the most urgent needs of affected residents.
Community Partnerships at Work
Recognizing the need for psychosocial support as well as material aid, the club partnered with the University of Mindanao – Tagum Campus, which responded with overwhelming support. The university deployed 20 teaching and non-teaching staff, including licensed psychologists, to provide psychological first aid and emotional support. The university also donated 60 sacks of rice, 270 food packs, bottled waters, and canned goods.
The Tagum Cooperative, generous donation of ₱300,000 to the LGU of Manay to aid ongoing relief efforts.
The relief mission also saw the active participation of the Rotary Club of Tagum Golden L.A.C.E.S., headed by President Keziah M. Gentugaya.
Logistics and Mobilization
To ensure smooth delivery of the relief goods, PP Rommel B. Gomito of Mitch Construction provided a 10-wheeler truck, and Mayor Levi S. Ebdao also lent an additional truck to expand shuttle capacity. These logistical contributions were critical in reaching remote and heavily affected areas efficiently.
Rotary Solidarity in Action
Further strengthening the spirit of Rotary camaraderie, the Rotary Club of San Juan Supreme, a sister club, also contributed to the operation with a ₱20,000 cash donation, showcasing the power of inter-club solidarity in times of crisis.
A Lasting Impact
The Bangon Manay Relief Operation provided not only food and essentials but also hope and psychological support to those impacted. This initiative stands as a testament to the Rotary motto: "Service Above Self." It is a reminder that even in the face of disaster, unity and compassion can lead to meaningful change
