“When Cebu falls, Cebu rises stronger—this is the spirit of Bangon Cebu.”
In the aftermath of the devastating Typhoon Tino that struck Cebu on November 4, 2025, the Rotary Club of Cebu Gloria Maris mobilized swiftly to bring relief to the hardest-hit communities. The club’s relief operations reached a total of 441 families—151 families in Barangay San Jose, led by Barangay Captain Edgar Borces, and 290 families in Barangay Pit-os, under the coordination of Barangay Captain Nilo Tariman.
Among those present were President Roxene Rosario, Secretary Dorothy Borces, Director Haezel Urbiztondo, Assistant Secretary Jabemarie Maquiling, Past Presidents Jodelyn May Seno and Mayette Lao, and Past District Governor Lilu Aliño, together with dedicated non-Rotarian volunteers who joined hands to deliver aid.
“Bangon Cebu is more than a slogan—it is a pledge that we will stand together, shoulder to shoulder, until every family rebuilds stronger and safer.”
The relief packages distributed included towels, blankets, water gallons filled with water, rice, canned goods, and used but well-loved clothing—essential supplies that provided warmth, nourishment, and comfort to families battling the typhoon’s aftermath. These items symbolized not just material aid but a beacon of hope and care from the Rotary family to every affected household.
The atmosphere was one of resilience and solidarity, as community members gratefully accepted the lifelines with renewed spirit. The operation embodied Rotary’s unwavering commitment to compassionate service and the steadfast belief that through unity and aid, recovery is possible.
