The Rotary Club of Greater San Mateo, supports the Department of Education’s (DepEd) literacy initiatives through the ARAL Program. The ARAL (Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning) Program, a DepEd initiative launched in September 2025, targets foundational reading skills for struggling learners like those in early grades.
In line with this advocacy, on November 27, 2025, the club donated to the Pattis Elementary School reading materials like 4 sets of electronic talking flashcards, 35 ABKD booklets, and 35 DD cards for the benefit of its Grade 1 learners to help strengthen their foundational skills in reading and comprehension.
This impressive result showcases the success of collaborative literacy efforts at Patiis Elementary School, where 75% of ARAL beneficiaries in Grade 1 improved their reading levels during the mid-year assessment. It is an impressive outcome that highlights the effectiveness of collaborative literacy efforts between educators, community partners, and families.
