On September 27, 2025, the town of Oslob became the setting for a day defined by service, partnership, and care as the Rotary Club of Cebu South carried out a successful Optical and Medical Mission for the local community. Working alongside the Rotaract Club of Cebu South, Mora Sanchez Menoza and Associates, students of the Cebu Doctors University College of Optometry, and the Municipality of Oslob, the initiative brought essential health services closer to those who needed them most.
Throughout the day, residents received optical services and medical consultations, complemented by free vitamins and slippers. These simple yet thoughtful provisions reflected Rotary’s holistic approach to service—addressing not only medical needs but also everyday comfort and well‑being.
At the heart of the mission was collaboration. Rotarians, Rotaractors, healthcare partners, students, and local leaders worked side by side, demonstrating how shared purpose strengthens community impact. The involvement of optometry students underscored the value of service‑learning, where professional training and compassion meet in real‑world settings.
More than a one‑day outreach, the mission fostered connection and trust. Conversations between volunteers and residents transformed service delivery into a human experience—one that embodied Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self.
As the mission concluded, it left behind more than distributed services. It reaffirmed Rotary’s presence in the community and highlighted the power of partnerships in creating meaningful, lasting impact. In Oslob, service was not just rendered—it was shared.
