A Beacon of Hope: District 3810’s Transformative “OKSI” Service Caravan Shines in Mindoro!

Mindoro, Philippines – In an awe-inspiring display of unity and compassion, Rotary International District 3810, spearheaded by the dynamic District Governor Jackie Rodrihuez, orchestrated a life-changing event that left an indelible mark on the heart of Mindoro. From February 28 to March 2, 2025, the “OKSI (Occidental Mindoro) District 3810 Magical Service Caravan” unfolded, bringing with it a wave of hope and joy to children with special needs and the broader community.

This extraordinary initiative targeted students in Special Education (SPED) programs, reaching an impressive 210 students across three pivotal schools:

• Mamburao Central SPED Center: 60 pupils

• San Jose Pilot Elementary SPED Center: 80 pupils

• Caminawit Central School SPED in San Jose: 70 pupils

With a clear vision and unwavering dedication, the caravan provided these young minds with essential resources and support tailored to their unique educational journeys. The activities and supplies delivered during the caravan were meticulously designed to empower these students, equipping them with the tools necessary for a prosperous future.

Beyond the educational realm, District 3810 extended its benevolence to the wider Mindoro community by donating 20 wheelchairs, generously sponsored by SDG Peaches Passion. This heartfelt gesture is set to transform the lives of individuals with disabilities, enhancing their mobility and independence, and enabling them to engage more fully in community life. The distribution of these wheelchairs was a moment of joy and renewed hope for many families.

In a remarkable testament to the spirit of giving, RC Jose Abad Santos Manila, led by MIP Desiree and PP Elsa Chung, contributed P10,000.00 to this noble cause. Despite being unable to attend in person due to prior commitments, their financial support played a crucial role in the project’s success. This act of generosity underscores the core values of Rotary—demonstrating that every effort, no matter the distance, makes a significant impact.

The OKSI caravan was not merely an exercise in immediate assistance; it was a catalyst for empowerment, fostering a brighter future for children and community members alike. It serves as a powerful reminder of the incredible achievements possible when compassion and collaboration unite for a shared purpose.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all participants and supporters of this remarkable initiative. The Rotary Clubs of District 3810 and its partners have brought hope, support, and joy to the children and families of Occidental Mindoro. Together, we have truly made a difference, one child and one community member at a time!
